My entry to Goldsmiths Craft and Design Competition, 2D Computer Aided Design Category:
This year the brief for the 2D computer aided design (CAD) category was to create a piece of jewellery inspired by nature.
I'm constantly surprised and amazed by the movement and growth of plants and animals, which this necklace is based on. The abstract fish move from the fields of seaweed at the back of the torc necklace, past the portholes of a sunken fish and towards the central stone, clear Rock Crystal surround by yellow Citrines, where they complete their dancing murmuration.
The square portholes, seaweed and the halo setting are made of highly polished silver, and the fish are made of oxidised silver and some accented in 9ct yellow gold.
The large statement necklace was designed in several pieces which would be pegged in and laser-welded together, see below:
The necklace was put together in CAD programme Rhino, with the square porthole sections made in Artcam and stone settings created in Matrix.
